(For Mbuh Tomla Emile)
By Tikum Mbah Azonga
I want to be a successful man
Man who lives and works and does no evil
I want to be the face behind the mask
A force to be reckoned with
The only cock that crows
And the only man the Kremlin fears.
Even so, never will I be the odd man
I’m neither Chamberlain nor Neville
But simply a servant imbued with the gift of the garb
Here where I sit and serve, sometimes as the fifth
I count all the heads as the day grows
And if there’s one thing I can’t forget, it’s surely my peers.
