THE POINTLESS RETURN

By Tikum Mbah Azonga

They came back empty-handed
Despite the numerous lofty promises
There was no refilling estuary
No persecuted Roman soldiers
Nor any angry housewives
Waving receipts of their meager pittances
Yet, woefully they failed.

It wasn`t the Diaspora extended
No, it was just president`s without vices
Looking for yet another quarry
The Pleiades may have faltered and reminded us of the colliers
But that was all then; today though, we had the bee hives
What we lacked were the remittances.
But they all came back empty-handed and so were trailed.
