GOD MY FORTRESS AND MY REFUGE

(For Colette)

God at work
Not just at work, but mightily at work
For he is a mighty God in deed
We all are his day-old chicks
He broods over us and keeps us out of harm’s way
His works are legion and absolute
For he is a good God
A father who has more to offer
Than any child can ever ask for
A father who is more willing to give
Than any child is prepared to ask.

God at work, I tell you, my friend
God at work all the time
All the time, God at work
He alone has stood the test of time
Because he is the alpha and the omega.
Before life was, he is
He is the word that was in the beginning
He is the way, the life and the truth
Nothing is born until he so decrees
Nothing lives until he so decides
Nothing dies until he so ordains.
So if he is for us, who can be against us?

FOOTNOTE

This poem was written today, the 2nd of January 2010, here in Buea where I live and work.It was inspired by the inscription, "GOD AT WORK" which I spotted on a passing young lady`s Tee-shirt. I stopped her and asked her whether she was a christian and a believer, to which she responded in the affirmative. I then told her I would write a poem for her beginning with that phrase. This is it.

Sir,i appreciate your creative efforts. The note under "GOD MY FORTRESS AND MY REFUGE",reveals how many poems you can write if you are to walk on the street with the aim of gathering phrases for your poems. This is a source of inspiration to me.Now i can see the outcome of walking with your mind having a focus, which is a beautiful, religious and inspiring poem.Thanks.
